Decrease in the prices of food products
In August KSH reported a monthly consumer price decrease of 0.6 percent. Compared with August 2009, prices rose by 3.7 percent. In the first eight months prices were 5.2 percent higher on average than a year earlier. Compared with July 2010, food prices decreased by 1.9 percent in August – seasonal product prices fell by 13.9 percent and other food product prices grew by 0.4 percent. The price of cooking oil was up 5.7 percent, milk prices were 1.5 percent higher and poultry meat cost 1.4 percent more. Salami, sausage and ham prices were down 1.7 percent and egg cost 1.2 percent less. Food product prices were up 3.7 percent if compared with August 2009. Household energy prices increased above the average, by 6.1 percent – gas prices were up 14 percent, but district heating was 12 percent cheaper.
