Lower meat prices
According to AKI slaughtering statistics, 178.9 thousand tonnes (live weight) of poultry were slaughtered in Hungary in the first three months of 2024, 15% more than in the same period of 2023.

From this 128.2 thousand tonnes (+10.9%) was slaughter chicken and 16.7 thousand tonnes (-4.4%) was slaughter turkey. AKI PÁIR data reveals that the live-weight producer price of slaughter chicken decreased by 19.9% to HUF 412.6/kg, and that of slaughter turkeys was down 14.9% at HUF 596.9/kg in the first 17 weeks of 2024. The price of chicken breast fillets sold by processors was HUF 1,713.5/kg (-15.5%), bone-in chicken breast cost HUF 1,078.7/kg (-22.6%), and the price of chicken breast (in total) was HUF 1,680.9/kg (-16.0%) in the observed period. The producer price of domestically bred slaughter pigs – excluding VAT and transport costs – was HUF 835/kg (carcass hot weight) in April 2024, down 5% from the average price a year earlier. //
