The number of Hungarians visiting Croatia has slightly decreased
The number of Hungarian guests decreased by less than one percent and the number of guest nights by three percent in Croatia last year, where overall record tourist traffic was registered in 2025 – the Budapest office of the Croatian National Tourist Board informed MTI on Wednesday.
It was announced that Hungarian travelers played a decisive role in Croatia’s inbound tourism in 2025 as well. Last year, nearly 785 thousand Hungarian guests arrived in the country, spending a total of 3.76 million guest nights, which represents a 0.6 percent decrease in the number of arrivals and a 3 percent decrease in guest nights compared to 2024.
The Kvarner region remains the most popular among Hungarians with 1.12 million guest nights, followed by Istria with 805 thousand, Zadar region with 623 thousand and Split region with 576 thousand guest nights. Crikvenica, Vir and Rovinj lead the ranking among the most popular settlements, but Porec, Medulin, Rab, Opatija, Lopar, Umag and Krk were also among the most popular destinations.
Based on the data, the majority of Hungarian guests, 76 percent, continue to organize their trips individually, while 24 percent through a travel agency. Among the types of accommodation, 60 percent chose private accommodation, 28 percent of Hungarians slept in hotels, and 10 percent slept in campsites.
The Hungarian market is being strengthened by the fact that Wizz Air will launch three direct flights a week between Budapest and Dubrovnik from June, which will further improve the accessibility of South Dalmatia and create new opportunities for travelers interested in city visits, as well as active and cultural tourism.
Croatia’s tourism surpassed all previous results last year: according to data from the official eVisitor system, more than 21.8 million guests arrived in the country, who spent a total of 110.1 million guest nights. This is a 2 percent increase in guest arrivals and a 1 percent increase in guest nights compared to 2024.
The statement quotes Tonci Glavina, Minister of Tourism and Sports, as saying that the pre-season and post-season were exceptionally strong, especially December, when the number of monthly guest nights exceeded one million for the first time.
The number of guests exceeded 110 million annually for the first time in the country’s history, while Croatia also recorded record revenue.
