Inflation decreased in the euro area
Despite higher energy prices than in the previous month, inflation in the euro area declined in March, according to Eurostat’s first estimate.
In March, the annual rate of increase was 1.4 percent, 0.1 percent less than the 1.4 percent of February.
Energy prices rose by 5.3 percent year-on-year in March after the 3.6 percent of February.
The prices of food and consumer goods rose by 1.8 percent after the 2.3 percent in February, prices of services by 1.1 percent after 1.4 percent, and prices of industrial products without energy prices in March by 0.2 percent from the previous month’s 0.4 percent annual price increase. (MTI)
