Euro zone retail sales fell in August
The retail sales volume fell by 0.3 percent in the euro area in August, compared to the previous month, and is 1 percent below, compared to the same period of last year – announced Eurostat on Wednesday.
The figures of the EU's statistical office are worse than expected. Analysts expected a smaller downturn, a 0.2 percent monthly and a 0.7 percent annual decline.
According to experts; the decline, that is higher than the expectations is due to the substantial 2.9 percent decline, compared to July – reports MTI.
