The price of slaughter heifers and slaughter cows has decreased
In the European Union, the slaughterhouse entry price of the young bull “R3” commercial class was 4.84 euros/kilogram cold carcass weight in September 2023, a decrease of 3 percent compared to a year earlier. The price of the cow “O3” decreased by 6 percent, the price of the heifer “R3” did not change significantly during the examined period.
According to the AKI’s slaughter statistics data, the slaughter of cattle in January-August 2023, expressed in live weight, decreased by 10 percent compared to January-August 2022. Cows, which account for more than two-thirds of all slaughters, were slaughtered by 8.5 percent less.
Based on data from the KSH, Hungary’s live cattle exports in January-July 2023 were 2.5 percent below the same period in 2022
The main partners were Croatia, Austria, Kosovo and Italy. Hungary’s live cattle imports increased by 24 percent. live cattle are more. as half came from Denmark, Austria and Germany. Both the volume and value of beef exports decreased by 12 percent. The volume of beef imports fell by 20 percent and the value by 7 percent in the observed period. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of young bulls was HUF 820/kilogram of split hot weight in September 2023, a 5 percent increase compared to the average price of the same month in 2022. The price of a slaughter heifer 3 percent, the slaughter cow decreased by 19 percent in the examined period. According to KSH data, the consumer price of beef steak was 15 percent higher (HUF 4,650/kilogram) in September 2023 than a year earlier.
