German retail sales decreased in November
In Germany, retail sales decreased in November, both monthly and year-on-year.
The German statistics office, Destatis, said on Friday that retail sales fell by 2.5 percent in November compared to October, when an increase of 1.1 percent was recorded. In the average of expert expectations, there was a minimal monthly decrease of 0.1 percent for November.
November sales of food fell by 0.5 percent, of non-food products by 3.6 percent, and of online and mail-order trade by 2.8 percent compared to October.
Compared to November of last year, retail turnover was down 2.4 percent, well above the 0.5 percent drop in average expert expectations and the 0.1 percent annual drop in October.
