German retail sales decreased
Last December, retail sales in Germany fell much more than expected due to the reintroduction of restrictive measures, according to a report by the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, on Tuesday.
In December, the eighth month saw the largest decline in retail sales in Germany from the previous month, well above the expected 1.4 percent monthly decline. In November, retail sales grew by 0.8 percent on a monthly basis.
Turnover from food and pleasure goods fell 1.4 percent in December from the previous month. Supermarkets saw a 1.8 percent drop in sales. (MTI)
