Retail sales decreased in the EU
Eurostat announced that retail trade volume in June in the Eurozone was unchanged from the previous month, while sales decreased by 0.2 percent in the whole European Union.
In a report published on Wednesday, the statistical office noted its main index for the monetary union rose 1.6 percent on an annual basis, the same as in May, and that the rise was 2.4 percent or 0.4 percentage points smaller for all 28 member states. The result for June compares with a rise by 0.4 percent in both zones in the previous month.
The monthly reading for the Eurozone comes as a decrease in sales of automotive fuel of 1.3 percent offset rises of 0.3 percent and 0.1 percent in non-food products and the section of food, drinks and tobacco, respectively. (MTI)
