Decreasing import duties: the EU would put an end to the banana war
The EU is the world's largest banana importer, only producing one-tenth of its needs from banana. The African and the Caribbean banana exporters fighting hard with their Latin American competitors for the market share in the EU.
MEPs recently approved plans that will easen the imports of the Latin American bananas, but cautioned, that these plans may jeopardize the livelihoods of smallholders in the ACP countries (African, Caribbean and Pacific countries) – reports tozsdeforum.hu, after EP's press service.
