Improving results despite declining sales: Alföldi Tej Kft. stabilizes after a difficult year
Alföldi Tej Kft. took a breather in 2024: although the company’s total net sales revenue decreased by more than 7.6 billion forints compared to the previous year, they managed to achieve a significant reduction in losses. One of the key players in the Hungarian dairy industry thus demonstrated more effective operation despite market difficulties – writes Agrárszektor.
Falling revenue, shrinking market
The company’s net sales revenue from domestic sales was 77.14 billion forints in 2023, but only 70.16 billion forints in 2024 – showing a decline of more than 7 billion forints. A similar trend prevailed on export markets: sales revenue from abroad decreased from the previous 5.11 billion to 4.45 billion forints. As a result, Alföldi Tej Kft. its total annual net sales revenue in 2024 was 74.61 billion forints, compared to 82.25 billion in 2023.
Decreasing losses, improving financial indicators
Despite the decrease in revenue, the company’s management efficiency improved: operating profit decreased from minus 1.64 billion forints to minus 765 million. The result of financial operations also developed more favorably, improving from minus 1.62 billion to minus 1.11 billion. The profit before tax thus became minus 1.88 billion forints, which is an improvement of almost 1.4 billion compared to minus 3.26 billion a year earlier.
There was also a significant decrease in interest expenses: while in 2023 the interest payable and interest-related expenses amounted to 1.57 billion forints, by 2024 this had decreased to 959 million forints.
