Live pig exports, imports and producer prices are also decreasing
According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, Hungary’s live pig exports decreased by 30.7 percent to 10 thousand tons In January-May 2025, compared to the quantity sold on the foreign market in the same period in 2024. Live pig imports fell by 49.3 percent to 15.2 thousand tons.

The quantity of pork sold on the international market decreased by 14.5 percent (60.3 thousand tons), while its value decreased by 18.2 percent during the observed period. The volume of pork imports was 23 percent (49.7 thousand tons), and its value was 23.3 percent lower in the first five months of 2025 than in the first five months of 2024. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of domestically produced slaughter pigs, excluding VAT and transport costs, was 805 forints/kilogram of carcass warm weight in the 1st–30th week of 2025, a decrease of 10.2 percent compared to the average price a year earlier.
