Declining sales in food stores
Overall retail sales showed some decline in March. According to a KSH report, sales in the first quarter of 2007 show a 0,3 per cent increase over the same period in the preceding year. Sales generated by retail trade in the first three months of 2007 totalled HUF 1,277 billion. Food and food-type stores accounted for 51,5 per cent of sales. Sales generated by the food retail industry continued to decline in March, being 0,6 per cent lower than a year earlier.
