A reduction in Ecostat’s tourism indicator

The tourism indicator which demonstrates the expectations of the population and the businesses of the tourism sector decreased slightly. According to the survey of the fisrt half of the year it is 32.9 percent currently.

According to the survey of Ecostat the indicator’s value of the first half of year is 32.9 percent, which is 3 percent lower than the value of the previous six months and 11.4 percent points below of the same period of 2008.The relatively low level of decrease was because the survey of the second half of 2008 was made at the peak of the economic and financial crisis and the tourism businesses were already recorded a 8.4 percentage point decline at that time. According to the survey, in the next half year people will be able to spend less money on holidays, than a year earlier but is planning to spend more than six months before – reports Magyar Nemzet Online.
