According to GKI Economic Research Ltd. and Erste Bank's 2009 prognosis: recession continues an deepens for a while, but pessimism all over the world is decreasing.
The Hungarian economy on the one hand, is afflicts by the fall in external demand. On the other hand, it is affected by the rapid narrowing of domestic demand. While the performance of the economy decreases by about 5.5 percent, the external balance improves spectacularly, and the internal balance is in compliance with the international standards. The need for external financing significantly decreases, and foreign trade surplus increases due to the decline of import. The prognosis expects an inflation of 4.5 percent.
