Chocolate paper or cigarette butt: Terracycle recycles everything
Tom Szaky, the young leader of Terracycle has started the cigarette butt recycling program as the first in the world, which will be introduced among others in Hungary after Canada, the United States and Spain.
The program was launched in Canada last May. In the scope of the program, volunteers collected the ashes and cigarette butts to create plastic and from plastic for example ashtrays. The participants collects the cigarette butts and also receive money for their work.
Approximately 1000 and 2000 cigarette butts are required to create an ashtray. According to the Hungarian-born U.S. entrepreneur an annual 1000-2000 billion cigarettes are smoked in the world. (MTI)
