Tesco leaks into the Chinese market
In September, Tesco will open a store in an another Chinese city; in Ninghai. Tesco was athe last chain which appeared in China in 2004 and currently operates only 73 units in the Far East country.
Tesco also opens a new unit in Shanghai in September so there will be 19 Tesco stores in one of the largest economic center of China. The total of 18 thousand square meter store will be selling 20 thousand kinds of products, including own branded goods as well.
Despite the conquest of foreign chains, China's retail sales are still clearly dominated by Chinese retailers. Euromonitor Market Research Company estimated the size of the market for 500 billion dollars a few years ago – reports Menedzsment Fórum.
