Nébih closes small-scale meat factory in Csemő
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has suspended the activities of a small-scale producer of meat products in Csemő due to hygiene and documentation deficiencies that pose a serious food safety risk, and the procedure and the imposition of a fine are in progress, Nébih told MTI on Wednesday.
It was announced that due to the violations discovered, the livestock was placed under traffic restrictions, and the food production activity was suspended with immediate effect.
During the action, more than 5 tons of food and animal by-products were withdrawn from circulation.
A high degree of disorder was observed on the livestock farm, and inspectors also found carcasses and animal remains in the manure pile on site. The livestock farmer did not keep the records required by law regarding the livestock, their feeding and medical treatment.
Despite the ban, he also fed the pigs with a substance of unknown origin and composition (swill). The pigs and goats found on the livestock farm – whose keeping was not even reported – were unmarked, so their origin is unknown.
According to the information, similarly to the livestock, the required documents were not available for the smallholder’s production activities. The conditions for hygienic hand washing were not ensured in the plant, and the production and storage conditions, as well as the condition of the smokehouses, did not fully comply with the regulations.
50 items, 5115.75 kilograms of untraceable food and animal by-products, as well as food with an expired shelf life, were immediately withdrawn from circulation on site.
