Czech-Polish food debate
The Czech Republic will try to achieve at the competent fora of the European Union, to ban the imports of Polish food – said Petr Bendl, Czech Minister of Agriculture in Prague on Tuesday.
The minister responded that the Polish party, despite repeated requests of Prague, refused to give detailed information to the Czechs, about which companies used much cheaper technical salt instead of normal salt and in which products. These Polish products have reached the Czech stores as well, causing a huge scandal.
According to Andrzej Butra, Polish Deputy Minister of Agriculture Czech the reactions of the Czechs in connection with the salt scandal, are hysterical.
Butra added that the Polish foods are produced according to the laws and requirements and are also checked and tested. He acknowledged there are abuses, but the authorities investigate and punish these abuses. (MTI, Kokes János)
