Fraudsters also appeared in Lego and Kinder Joy exchange groups
In addition to the Lego collector’s market, abuses have also increased in domestic trading communities around Kinder Joy Stranger Things figures: according to reports, scammers typically advertise rare pieces (such as the hard-to-obtain Will Byers figure) or valuable Lego sets, then ask for an advance payment and disappear – writes Telex.
A significant portion of the groups are closed, moderated by admins, but despite the large number of members and the growing interest, control is limited. The typical risk for victims is that after the advertisement within the group, communication continues in private messages, and payment is made by providing bank card details or advance payment.
Precautions common in collector communities include checking the seller’s profile (fresh account, few acquaintances, suspiciously lacking activity), avoiding offers that are too cheap, and that in case of dispute, the victims report the matter to the group admins and, if necessary, file a complaint.
