GVH raided a fraudulent webshop in Hungarian
The Economic Competition Authority (GVH) has announced that it has launched an investigation against Airbox s.r.o., a Slovak electronic cigarette distributor, because it is suspected of illegally and misleadingly advertising its products. The GVH issued a warning to consumers, stressing that they should be careful when shopping online, as illegally traded tobacco products can have a harmful effect on health.
Airbox s.r.o. on its Hungarian-language website, it gives the impression that nicotine-containing electronic cigarettes and electronic devices imitating nicotine-free smoking distributed by the company are legally available in Hungary. However, the distribution and distance selling of flavored versions of both product categories is prohibited in Hungary based on current legislation.
It is important to note that the investigation does not mean that the business has already committed the violation. The purpose of the procedure is to clarify the facts and prove the alleged violation. The GVH acts strictly in such cases and has previously taken similar measures against Slovak businesses that sold electronic cigarettes and dangerous Elf Bar products on their Hungarian-language websites.
