Sugar price reached its almost three-decade peak
The price of the raw and refined sugar increased to its 28 year peak at the London Commodity Exchange. Traders expects further price increases.
The reason of the extraordinary price increase, is that strong demand is expected for the largest importer India, because there was a very poor harvest.
At the London Commodity Exchange on Thursday, the price of raw sugar increased by 0.36 cents per pounds with 1.9 percent to 19.73 cents.
Refined sugar also reached a record high price with 519 USD per tonne, due to the fact that Mexico needs a large quantity – reports Origo.
