Consumer confidence at a five-year-high in the last quarter of 2016
Just like in Q3, the Hungarian consumer confidence index was at 64 points in Q4 2016. The European average was 81 points. From the three components of the index Hungarians were the most optimistic about their personal financial situation: 25 percent said it was good or excellent – 1 percentage point more than in the previous quarter.
As for the job prospects in the next 12 months, 18 percent of Hungarians said they were positive – in this respect there was a 1-percentage point decrease from the previous quarter. Willingness to buy also dropped a bit: 19 percent of the survey’s participants were of the opinion that the time will be right or excellent in the next 12 months for buying the things they need – 4 percentage points fewer than in Q3.
