Concordia Közraktár Zrt.: the profitability of grain production Is uncertain due to drought
Due to the drought, the profitability of cereal production has become uncertain this year. In addition to the expected 15 percent loss of crop, the irrigation of wheat fields has begun in the Great Plain, which increases the costs as well – the Concordia Közraktár Zrt. told MTI on Friday.
Major Andrea Head of the Grain Control Division of the Concordia Közraktár Zrt. (Concordia Central Warehouse Co.) says that the green weight development of cereals will certainly be weak, but the quality still might be good. The dry, warm weather favors the incorporation of protein, gluten, into cereals, especially wheat, while more rainy weather helps to incorporate starch. (MTI)
