Client Gateway risks
The tax authorities more and more frequently inform businesses about tax inspections by sending an e-mail via the Client Gateway (Ügyfélkapu) system. The problem is that while these letters were sent by post, it was clear who had the right to accept it at a company. Now that it is sent in e-mail, it might happen that a person accepts the e-mail officially who works for the company and has a Client Registration, but isn’t authorised to accept such letters on behalf of the company. István Veszprémi, a Deloitte partner in tax and legal matters told our magazine: companies need to revise the list of persons who have been permitted to officially accept e-mails sent by the Client Gate system, so that no such situation occurs that a former employee, who still has the permission and a Client Gate registration, accepts the tax authorities’ letter and a tax inspection starts without the company knowing about it.
