Targeted support helps small entrepreneurs in the ornamental gardening sector
In many respects, enterprises dealing with green space management, as well as the products and services of the ornamental gardening sector, are of paramount importance, which is why the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to supporting their development. Thus, in the first round of the ornamental gardening tender, almost 600 million forints of support was awarded to 30 small enterprises.

In the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan, compared to the previous support period, support for small enterprises in the ornamental gardening sector appeared as a new measure. Although the activities of the sector players do not qualify as agricultural production, the sector plays an important role in the economic development of rural areas and local employment. Enterprises dealing with green space management, as well as the products and services of the ornamental gardening sector, are indispensable for shaping the human environment and maintaining a livable environment. For all these reasons, the Ministry of Agriculture, sensing the needs in this area, announced a call for applications in 2024 in order to modernize the ornamental gardening sector, which is essential to meet the growing market demands, and to raise the quality of production methods and services. Based on the call, enterprises engaged in ornamental plant production, trade or green space management could apply for support for the construction of facilities necessary for their operation, the expansion and renovation of their premises and the purchase of machinery and equipment.
The new call, originally announced with 1.6 billion forints, was popular among the sector’s players
A total of 3.2 billion forints in support requests were received, in respect of 179 support requests, for which the Ministry of Agriculture creates the opportunity to support by reallocating funds. Of the applications received by the deadline, the Ministry of Agriculture decided to support 30 applications in the first round, worth approximately 600 million forints. The evaluation of applications will continue as scheduled, and the decision-making process for sponsors will continue in the coming weeks.
