CBA: Príma and Cent came to the rescue
In 2011 the CBA network’s turnover was HUF 565 billion, surpassing the HUF 555 billion performance of 2010 despite the recession. CBA still has the most units among Hungarian chains, precisely 3,372 stores.
Last year was a difficult one as more than 100 CBA stores went out of business, but elite CBA Prima stores (currently there are 103) and the 22 CBA Cent discount stores managed to increase overall turnover and keep up the overall number of stores. CBA plans to open a Hungaricum Delikát delicatessen shop in Brussels in September, later to be followed by units in Munich, Paris, London and Madrid. On 6 March 2011 CBA won the ‘Century Quality Era Diamond Award’ of Business Initiative Directions in Geneva, for its achievements in quality assurance, environmental protection and food safety.
