Budvar brewery – Increasing sales, decreasing profits
Last year was the second best year ever, in the history for Czech Budvar brewery in terms of sales. Its profit however decreased due to the increasing production prices.
Revenue rose by 1.6 percent to 2.34 billion koruna, while the pre-tax result fell by 30 percent compared to the year before. Last year Budvar produced 1.312 million hectoliters of beer, which is 4.75 percent more than a year earlier, while the Czech beer industry slowed down its production by 0.5 percent. This made it possible for Budvar to increase its market share from 6.3 percent to 6.6 percent in the domestic market.
731 thousand hectoliters of Budvar beer consumed in the Czech Republic, most went for export. In the Czech Republic, Budějovický Budvar is the main beer exporter. The second biggest is Plzensky Prazdroj, followed by Heineken and Staropramen – reports ProfitLine.hu.
