Students from Budapest and Gyula won the national Knowledge Test of Hungarian Dietitians
Nearly 400 teams from the country’s 150 elementary schools took part in the Knowledge Test of the National Association of Hungarian Dietitians, where sixth- and seventh-grade students gave an account of their knowledge of healthy nutrition. The three-person teams first had to compete against each other in an online round, and the finalists measured their knowledge of the Hungarian nutritional recommendation, OKOSTÁNYÉR®, live. 33 teams with nearly 100 students took part in the Budapest final. In the sixth grade, XXIII. district Török Flóris Primary School won, and among the seventh graders, the Gyula Roman Catholic Primary School finished in first place.
The National Association of Hungarian Dietitians (MDOSZ) sent more than 2,400 elementary schools an invitation to participate in the professional association’s Knowledge Test, which was made possible with the support of the Auchan Foundation. The 400 teams entered for the competition first had to fill out a 20-question online test series about healthy nutrition, which was a great help if they knew the valid Hungarian nutritional recommendation, the OKOSTÁNYÉR®. The nutrition guide published in 2016 on the recommendation of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences shows in a very understandable way what proportion of different types of food we should consume in a day in order to improve our current nutritional habits by bringing them closer to healthy amounts and proportions. The recommendation, developed for both adults and children, is complemented by specific nutritional advice and portion calculations, and was even updated by dieticians two years ago with sustainability aspects. The recommendations of OKOSTÁNYÉR® intended for daily use should be followed by all healthy adults and children in order to avoid health risks resulting from poor nutrition.
