Farewell day at the 60th anniversary EuroShop trade fair
Ildikó Kátai reporting from the venue
The last day of any trade fair always has a distinctive atmosphere. Everyone rushes to see what they still absolutely don’t want to miss and to meet the people they can’t leave without catching up with. At the same time, the pressure lifts off exhibitors’ shoulders: they give away leftover props, take a moment to look around, wrap up the final meetings – in short, they “dance the last dances.”
On the final day there is also more time to sit in on the presentations on the stages, or to visit the stands of various associations and organisations. The EHI Institute of Retail has been present at this trade fair from the very beginning. This year, its area linking two stages was arranged – together with the German and the Italian retail institutes – around the themes of retro and meetings.
At this time, more visitors also make it to the more distant halls – including the areas dedicated to deposit return systems and waste management. Here, recycling, reprocessing and the circular economy take on a very tangible meaning. One standout presence is TOMRA’s stand, where visitors are welcomed by machines equipped with digital screens as well as compacting or sorting functions, and by open professional discussions under the slogan “Let’s talk impact.”
Everything has its price – something the team at the Pricer stand knows well, too. Stepping into the experience section, visitors can see Pricer’s new-generation, slim, elegantly framed electronic shelf labels in four different sizes on the shelves of Pricer Avenue. These devices draw their energy from the light of in-store lamps, so no batteries are needed. What’s more, the modules can be linked together, allowing image or text messages to run along the full length of the shelf – in as many as eight colours.
Pricer’s labels are already used in industrial and logistics facilities as well, making it easier to pick parts, parcels or supplies and deliver them to the designated locations.
Interestingly, younger visitor groups mostly gathered around the small Startup stands – at the recycling PET-bottle sack stations and at the machines where you can create your own personalised phone case.
The afternoon is about saying goodbye. Last business-card exchanges at neighbouring stands, then they pack up, close down and head home. For months afterwards, they will work through the ideas, contacts, RFQs and cooperation opportunities gained at EuroShop – only to return three years later, in February 2029, for the unmissable EuroShop once again.
