An increase in legal pálinka sales
The monthly legal pálinka sales have increased spectacularly, at some commercial distilleries by more than 80 percent since the beginning of the year, after a 50 percent excise tax was introduced on spirits made at rented distilleries.
The sales increase can be explained by the fact that the black market already “priced” the 50 percent tax in, so the price of illegal spirits could also increased by 40 percent. As a result, the price difference between the black and the legal spirits reduced significantly appreciably increasing the turnover of the legitimate companies. (agrarszektor.hu)
