Brutal price increases are expected in tourism
In September, the TKI index stood at -3 points, indicating that the players in the tourism sector perceived a slight deterioration in their situation at the end of the season. The index decreased by 3 points in September, which is lower than the growth in August, and it is 4 points higher than the value from a year ago.
The index declined in all three sub-sectors, with the accommodation services sector experiencing the largest drop of 7 points. Except for Central Hungary, businesses in other regions reported near-stagnation or deconjunction.
52% of tourism companies reported an increase in operating costs in the last 3 months, with an average increase of 35%. However, 68% of companies reported rising service prices, with an average price increase of 13% compared to the previous year.
In September, 9% of tourism companies indicated that they plan to raise their service prices in the next 3 months, while 89% will keep their prices unchanged, and 2% plan to decrease them.
