In case of a Brexit disorder, the EU will immediately restart customs controls
Customs controls on goods coming from the United Kingdom will immediately restart, after which VAT will have to be paid if Great Britain leaves the European Union in an irregular way – the European Commission warns.
“The EU Customs Code would apply to all products coming from the UK,” – Pierre Moscovici EU Economic Commissioner told.
“In the case of hard Brexit, new customs controls should be introduced. This does not mean that each truck is systematically screened. We would carry out checks based on risk analysis,” – he said. (MTI, Bajnok Artúr)
