BRAU Beviale beverage exhibition in Nurnberg
BRAU Beviale, one of the leading exhibitions in the market of beer and alcohol-free beverages is to be held between 12-14. November in Nurnberg. Over 1,400 exhibitors and 34,000 visitors are expected to attend the event. According to Petra Trommer, press officer of BRAU Beviale, it is not possible to predict what middle term effects the drastic rise in the price of materials will have on the consumption of beverages in Europe yet. However, it seems certain that European consumption will not remain at the present level for long. Food and beverages are more expensive in Europe than in the US, because taxes are higher. While people in the US spend only 7 per cent of their income on food consumed at home, this percentage is 17 in the UK, 15 in Germany and slightly below 30 in Hungary. Petra Trommer also pointed out that the long term objective of all beverage manufacturers is to develop products with some beneficial effect on health.
