Foreign trade expanded in Europe
Last year, both the euro zone and the EU increased their exports and imports, and the trade surplus increased in both regions as well – the European Union's statistical office, the Eurostat announced on Monday.
According to Eurostat's first estimate, the 19 member states of the euro zone achieved 24.3 billion euros surplus last December, after the 23.6 billion euros of December 2014. The foreign trade surplus in the euro zone in 2015 increased to 246.0 billion euros from the 184.3 billion euros of the previous year.
The 28 Member States of the European Union in December achieved 20.5 billion euros foreign trade surplus last December, after the 11.4 billion euros of December 2014. The total trade surplus in 2015 rose to 64.2 billion euros from the 13.3 billion euros of the previous year. (MTI)
