The price monitor has been expanded
The price monitor has been expanded, the system now shows the daily prices of 78 product categories. The products most often consumed by those following a special diet have been included, as well as beef and mineral water – the Economic Competition Authority (GVH) told MTI on Saturday.
According to the announcement, the online price monitoring system operated by GVH has been expanded with another 16 product categories as of Saturday. Thus, customers can compare daily prices in 78 product categories – which means more than 1,800 different food products. The online price monitor helps Hungarian families save money and time when shopping. And the competitive effect of the system will also help reduce prices in 2024, they wrote.
In the online price monitor operated by GVH, available at www.argyelo.gvh.hu, consumers can search in around 1,200 stores of six large commercial chains. The efficiency of the system is proven by the fact that, since its launch on July 1st, the average prices have decreased in more than 80 percent of the 62 product categories observed at the beginning, by about 6 percent on average. According to the data published by KSH on Friday, the monthly food inflation measured on an annual basis fell to 4.8 percent in December 2023, which has not been this low since September 2021, i.e. 27 months ago. The annual price increase of food fell to a tenth in one year, compared to the 44.8 percent measured in December 2022, the GVH announced.
