Growing revenues for hotels
The number of nights spent by guests in commercial places of accommodation in January – July 2008 was down by one percent compared to the same period in 2007. period . Revenues were up by 2 per cent. The total number of foreign guests was 1,952,000, with 5,617,000 nights in the first seven months of 2008. The number of guests arriving from Germany, Austria, USA amd Italy was down, while substantially more guests arrived from the UK and Romania. The number of nights in 3 and 5 star hotels show an increase, while other categories show stagnation or decline. Guests arriving for conferences or on business trips account for 32 percent of the total. T Gross revenues totalled HUF 137 billion. Room revenues were up by 3 percent, at HUF 78 billion. The average gross room rate was HUF 14,932, with a more than sevenfold difference between the highest and lowest rates. Room rates were up by 7 percent, compared to 2007.
