The global beer market has expanded, and Hungary is a significant exporter of beer as well
Globally, more than 1.9 billion hectoliters of beer were sold last year. The world’s largest brewing nation is China, followed by the USA and Brazil in third. Instead of quantity, quality is gaining ground in the Hungarian beer market, and premium beers are popular again.
By far the largest brewer in the world, China produces more than 465 million hectoliters of beer a year, which is more than double of the US production. However, with its production of 224 million hectoliters, the United States is still the world’s second largest producer, followed by Brazil, with over 134 million hectoliters. Globally, Germany is the fourth, and Europe’s largest brewer with 93 million hectoliters, with more than 1,300 breweries and more than 5,000 branded beers.
