Corn harvest expected to increase this year

The IGC’s August projection indicates a global corn harvest of 1,299 million tonnes in the 2025/2026 marketing year, 5 percent higher than in the 2024/2025 marketing year. Utilization could be 1,285 million tonnes, which would exceed the previous season by 3 percent. International trade could reach 192 million tonnes (+3 percent) in the 2025/2026 marketing year, and the ending stock of corn could reach 294 million tonnes.

According to the USDA, farmers in the United States of America could harvest 425 million tonnes of corn in the 2025/2026 marketing year, 13 percent higher than in the 2024/2025 marketing year. The US is expected to export 72.5 million tonnes of corn (+2 percent). In Ukraine, 32 million tons of corn may be stored in storage this year, 19 percent more than last year, of which 25.5 million tons (+21 percent) of the crop may be placed on foreign markets. Russia’s output may be 15 million tons (+7 percent), and its exports may be 3.6 million tons (+9 percent). In Brazil, a combined 131 million tons (–1 percent) of the crop from the first and second crops may be stored in the granaries in the 2025/2026 marketing year, with 42 million tons (+5 percent) for export. In Argentina, the corn crop may increase by 3 million tons to 53 million tons, of which 37 million tons (+4 percent) may be delivered to foreign markets. According to data from AKI PÁIR, in Hungary, feed corn changed hands at an average producer price of 78.6 thousand forints/ton in the last week of August, which exceeded the previous year by 11 percent. On the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the September corn quotation ranged between 151 and 159 dollars/ton between August 25 and September 5. On the Paris Mercantile Exchange, the November settlement price of the crop fluctuated between 186 and 191 euros/ton at the same time.
