Europe’s largest private-label crisp producer further increases production
Belgian Roger & Roger is investing sixty million euros in the renovation and expansion of its plant in Mouscron, near Lille (France). The Croky crisps producer hopes this will help meet the rising demand for private label crisps.
The Mouscron site is to undergo a major expansion, with additional production lines, a new office building, a research centre and a 5,000 sqm automated warehouse. The latter will accommodate 20,000 extra pallets, on top of the 60,000 pallets the company can already store. The manufacturer is also recruiting twenty additional employees, Belgian newspaper L’Echo reports.
The investment is necessary because demand for private label chips is rising sharply in Europe. Indeed, Roger & Roger is Europe’s leading producer of private label crisps, with customers in 35 countries. The company produces 65,000 tonnes of potato and maize crisps annually in Mouscron, 40 % of which are under the Croky brand. Its annual turnover is 300 million euros.
