Müller expands its Swiss store network
Müller is investing €28.3 million in its expansion in Switzerland, opening nine new stores and expanding four existing stores.
As a result, the retailer’s sales area will increase by 10,500 square metres to a total of 91,000 square metres, representing the largest network expansion in Switzerland within a year in the company’s history.
The new stores will open in Zurich, Winterthur and near Lausanne, among others.
In addition, Müller is converting three toy stores previously belonging to the Franz Carl Weber chain, which it took over in 2023. According to Müller, nine of the original 22 Franz Carl Weber locations had to be closed due to insufficient profitability and customer frequency, still, the retailer continues to make it a priority to save jobs.
Müller operates 89 stores in Switzerland, the largest of which is in Bern. The stores offer a range of nearly 190,000 products including drugstore products, toys and perfumes, as well as OTC medicines – 11,000 of which are specific to the Swiss market.
The company has plans to make digital improvements this year, including a redesign of the online store and the introduction of express pick-up service.
Müller also invests in training and further education. It is currently training 23 apprentices in five professions in Switzerland. According to the company, it aims to secure a long-term supply of skilled workers with an internal career programme.
