The farmers’ protests in Spain were drowned in scandal
Authorities detained six people and fined hundreds on Wednesday in the second day of farmers’ protests in Spain.
The more serious incidents took place near Santa Fé in the Granada agglomeration, where the gendarmes called for the unauthorized protest action to be stopped and the conceptual barrier to be removed. Three people were detained for violence against authorities and three for disobedience.
Since the majority of road closures and traffic-slowing movements were not announced, the authorities fined hundreds across the country.
There were tense moments with the gendarmes in Castellón in eastern Spain, where farmers blocked the road to the port with lit tires. The gendarmerie broke up the movement here.
In the grassroots, individual initiatives, the access roads of several big cities were also periodically blocked by tractor drivers on Wednesday. Huge traffic jams developed on the most important transport routes in the provinces of Catalonia, Valencia, Castile-La Mancha, Andalusia, Aragon, Murcia and Extremadura.
