The supply of eggs will be plentiful, according to professional organizations
There will be an abundant supply of eggs in the shops at Easter, but there can be big differences in prices, according to the overview of the National Chamber of Agriculture, the Poultry Product Council and the Association of Hungarian Egg Hybrid Breeders and Egg Producers (Egg Association).
In the summary sent to MTI on Tuesday, it was indicated that before Easter, consumers can choose from almost 70 different types of eggs in different packages and sizes. The large price differences are caused by the wide selection and the pricing rules for high-traffic stores.
According to the professional organizations, if the feed market and the energy sector remain relatively calm, state interventions remain, and the forint does not weaken significantly, then there is no need to expect a serious increase in the consumer price of eggs this year.
At the same time, it was pointed out that producers are faced with a significant challenge by low-priced imports into the EU, the level of which has increased almost eightfold compared to 2021, and in addition to shell eggs, processed egg industry products have also appeared.
