Shaved ice
The world’s oldest ice cream is sweetened ice flakes, which was made already in the antiquity. In Mexico it is called raspados and its Korean name is bingsu. Syrups and fruits are often added, just like peanut or chocolate bits. Special equipment are used to cut the flakes: professional ones cost more than USD 1,000, but simpler versions for home use can be bought for USD 30-40.
