A Bulgarian company has acquired one of the largest cooking oil producers in Romania, Argus
Bulgarian Buildcom EOOD has acquired one of the largest Romanian cooking oil producers, Argus, economedia.ro reports, based on the company’s announcement.
The previous majority owner, the investment fund Infinity Capital Investments, will transfer a 91.42 percent stake to the buyer. The parties set the value of the Constanta-based joint-stock company at 14.5 million euros (5.757 billion forints). Through the transaction, the buyer will also own a majority stake in Comcereal SA, which provides agricultural services.
Argus SA, founded in 1943, is one of the largest oilseed processors in Romania, with an annual processing capacity of 130,000 tons. In 2024, the company had 240 employees and closed the year with a loss of 22.880 (1.797 billion forints) million lei, with a turnover of 218.233 million lei (17.146 billion forints). In two years, the company’s turnover has decreased by 40 percent.
Buildcom EOOD is one of the largest agricultural companies in Bulgaria, primarily engaged in international trade of wheat, corn, barley, peas, rapeseed and sunflower. Buildcom is an associated company of Oliva AD, the leading Bulgarian edible oil producer.
