Bocuse d’Or Selection Hungary 2010
The Hungarian final of the world’s most prestigious international chef contest was held on 21-22 February at FOODAPEST. Kitchens of international standard and a 500-seat spectators’ stand awaited participants and supporters. Eight contestants, above the age of 23 tried to prove their knowledge and skills to a jury of 12, the international president of which was Charles Tjessem (the winner of Bocuse d’Or 2003) and its Hungarian president was Kálmán Kalla. Contestants competed for a place in Bocuse d’Or Europe in Switzerland, a EUR 5,000 gastronomy tour and a preparatory training in Mathias Dalhgren’s world-famous restaurant. When the contestants presented the spectacular courses they created even trade audience was in awe. The jury took notes but revealed no results until the ceremonial announcement: Gábor Kostyál won the Hungarian final, before Tamás Lenkei (Hunguest Hotel Pelion,Tapolca) and István Volenter (Mala Garden restaurant, Siófok). We would like to highlight the performance of István Kiripolszki (Kogart restaurant, Bp.) who competed at Bocuse d’Or after participating at the Tradition and Evolution contest the previous day!
