The popular food of the summer can be safely consumed – the inspection of grilled cheeses ended with a good result
During the summer seasonal inspection from mid-June, among the animal products, grilled cheeses received special attention this year. During the promotion, 7 producers (suppliing larger supermarket chains) were inspected, as well as sampling of their products. All checked products proved to be suitable based on food safety and quality aspects. During the on-site inspection of the producers, the authority revealed only minor errors. Proceedings were initiated in 2 cases due to a marking error, said Dr. Beáta Olga Felkai, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The deputy state secretary drew attention to the fact that cheese has a kind of indulgence and pleasure value for domestic consumers, and three-quarters of the population consumes such products several times a week – according to the forthcoming survey of the Dairy Products Council, which is in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture. He added that one of the most important segments of the domestic food industry is the production of dairy products, and the main goal of the Ministry of Agriculture is the domestic production of products with high added value. Making cheese production competitive and developing cheese culture is an excellent opportunity for this.
Dr. Beáta Olga Felkai pointed out that there is an increasingly wide selection of grilled cheeses in the market. In order to ensure the most comprehensive inspection possible, during the seasonal campaign, the authority took samples from different types of cheese (mozzarella, camembert, lump cheese, bulk cheese) and conducted food safety and quality tests as well as marking checks on 15 products.
