Grapes are in vigorous condition before the harvest
The vintage begins within weeks. Despite the weather extremes, grapes are in vigorous condition in most of the cultivated areas – according to Syngenta’s panorama. According to experts, attention should continue to be paid to the diseases and pests until the harvest, mainly for gray mold and the golden jaundice.
The cultivated vineyard area in Hungary is close to 60,000 hectares. The volume of grapes harvested in 2014 was 348 thousand tons, in 2015 the yield exceeded 398 thousand tons. The 400 thousand tons of grape production of 2016 is better than the average of the recent years, but in many wine regions frosts, hailings and pests have significantly reduced the yields. In the last year, 2.8 million hectoliters of wines have been produced in the wineries nationwide.
