Report from the Alimentaria Barcelona 2012
One of the world's three largest food and hospitality trade fair, the Alimentaria Barcelona opened on 26 March. It seems that the economic crisis does not influence the visitors – huge waves of curious public is rolling along in the pavilions as well as in the pre-crisis times.
The enviable results, of course, are also due to professional organizing. As we reported earlier, the organizers carried out effective promotional campaigns in Spain and abroad – and exemplary co-operated with the municipal and provincial authorities, with the chambers and associations, while the exhibition’s foreign promotion budget was raised by 20 percent.
The Alimentaria is organized on 95 thousand square meters this year. In two large pavilions 4000 companies present their products and services – among them 1300 companies from 75 foreign countries. The organizers expects 140,000 trade visitors, of which 35,000 will arrive from out of Spain.
Several Asian and South American countries first appeared on the Alimentaria, and compared to the previous years, Mexico, Turkey, Belgium and Romania represent themselves on a much larger exhibition space.
