Brazil’s meat industry is off to a strong start in 2025, with both pork and beef exports showing double-digit growth—particularly toward the United States. According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), the export boom reflects not just rising volumes, but also global recognition of Brazilian meat quality and food safety standards.
Pork Exports: Steady Growth Across Key Markets
In April 2025, Brazil exported 129,200 tons of pork (fresh and processed), marking a 14.6% increase compared to April 2024. Export revenues rose even more sharply—by 24.7%, reaching $301.5 million.
Cumulatively, from January to April 2025, Brazil shipped 466,000 tons of pork—15.9% more than the same period in 2024—generating $1.09 billion, a 29.9% increase in export revenue.
According to ABPA President Ricardo Santin, the surge is supported by expanding presence in key Asian and Latin American markets, reflecting growing global confidence in Brazilian pork.
Beef Exports: China Leads, but U.S. Growth Is Explosive
Brazil’s beef exports hit 273,400 tons in April, earning $1.33 billion, up 15.3% in volume and 27.6% in value year-on-year. Notably, exports to the U.S. soared by 498% compared to April 2024, reaching 47,800 tons—now accounting for 17.5% of Brazil’s monthly beef exports.
Between January and April, Brazil exported 949,900 tons of beef (+13.5%), with revenues totaling $4.55 billion (+23.7%).
-
China remained the top destination with 392,300 tons and $1.89 billion in purchases—41.3% of Brazil’s total beef exports.
-
The U.S. became the second-largest buyer, importing 135,800 tons in the first four months, up more than fivefold year-on-year.
Export Diversification and Value-Added Growth
Brazil’s beef export portfolio is becoming more diverse:
-
Tallow exports surged by 199.4% year-on-year.
-
Processed beef exports rose 11.5%.
-
Offals increased 11.8%.
-
Salted products jumped 62.2%, reflecting growing international demand for varied beef categories.
The European Union, Mexico, Hong Kong, Chile, Egypt, and Russia were also significant destinations.

Driven by high-quality standards, expanding global partnerships, and increasing demand in both premium and emerging markets, Brazil is solidifying its role as a global meat export powerhouse in 2025—with the U.S. market now firmly positioned as a key growth engine alongside China.
